Group Classes

The Arts School offers group classes for students in art, drama, piano, and strings.

Enrollment for the fall semester opens August 1, 2025.  All new and returning students must complete the online enrollment form. The Arts School accepts new enrollments year round.
 
A non-refundable registration fee of $50 will be due at the beginning of the semester. Please see enrollment form regarding payment options.
 
Please note that The Arts School instructors will not collect enrollments or payments of any kind.

Art Adventures

Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 p.m.

Calling all young artists! Join us for Art Adventures, an after-school creative escape where imagination runs free and mess is encouraged. This hour-long class is the perfect space for 1st and 2nd graders to unwind, explore, and express themselves through a wide variety of fun, hands-on art projects. From painting and collage to sculpture and mixed media, each session offers something fresh and inspiring.

Whether your child is a budding artist or just loves to create, Art Adventures is a joyful space to relax, make new things, and enjoy the magic of the art room. All supplies included—just bring your creativity!

Let the creativity flow! Art Adventures is a midweek break made for 3rd and 4th grade artists to experiment, play, and unwind after school. This hour-long class is filled with exciting projects using a variety of materials and techniques—from painting and printmaking to sculpture and more.

Each week brings something new to try as students stretch their imaginations, build confidence, and explore what makes their art unique. Whether your child is passionate about creating or simply wants a fun, relaxing space, Art Adventures is the perfect place to make magic happen. All supplies included!

Grades: 5 & 6 Maker Space Edition
Thursdays, 3:15-4:15 p.m.

Ready to take your creativity to the next level? Art Adventures: Maker Space Edition is an open-ended art class designed for 5th and 6th graders who want the freedom to explore and create without rules or guidelines. This hour is all yours—a space to unwind after school, try new techniques, and let your imagination lead the way.

From sketching and painting to building and experimenting with mixed media, this class is all about creative choice. You’ll receive your own sketchbook to use throughout the session, and all supplies are provided—just bring your ideas and let’s see where they take you.

Whether you're deep into drawing or just want space to play and discover new things, this class is your creative playground.


Group Piano Class
Instructor: Dr. Elise Choi

 
The group piano class offers a traditional piano lesson in a group format.  Students are placed according to their ability in a class of 3-4 students, each using their own digital piano. The focus of the class is on enjoying music and learning the basics -- notes, rests, tempos, and dynamics.
 
Grades - 3 and Above

Tuition - $400 + additional fees*

Semi-Private Piano Classes
Instructor:  Dr. Elise Choi
 
The semi-private piano class offers a traditional piano lesson in a smaller group setting, with two students per class. It is ideal for Grade 1 and Grade 2 beginners, siblings, or friends. In addition to learning the basics—notes, rests, tempos, and dynamics—students also explore making music together.

POP Players - Children's Theater
Instructor: Jami Calatozzo

 
Is your child overly dramatic or a shower singer? Then POP PLAYERS is the class for them! POP Players Children's Theater focuses on building confidence through singing, dancing, and acting. Our classes culminate in a musical theater production. Come join our creative adventure this semester!
 
Kindergarten - Grade 2:  "Go Fish"
Join in the aquatic fun as a unique collection of ocean friends discover how their differences make them each special.
 
Thursdays, 3:15-4:15 p.m.
 
Class start date - January 15, 2026; No class on Thursday, January 29.  Extra class Wednesday, April 29.

Grades 3 - 5:  "Finding Nemo, Jr."

Tuition - $300
Dress Rehearsal Wednesday, April 29 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Performance Dates - April 30 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Suzuki Group/Theory Class - Violin and Viola
Instructor - Aubrey Turner

Suzuki group classes reinforce concepts and repertoire introduced in private lessons. Depending upon the level of the group, it may include such things as pre-Twinkle songs, instrumental position games, review of Suzuki repertoire in an ensemble setting, note-reading on the student's instrument, or playing Suzuki and supplemental repertoire in multiple parts.

Suzuki group classes are only offered to students enrolled in Suzuki private instruction. All Suzuki students must enroll in group class for the duration of the school year. Please consult with your private teacher regarding placement.

Location: Choir Room

30-minute classes - $10 per class
45-minute classes - $15 per class
60-minute classes - $20 per class
75-minute classes - $25 per class
 

Group classes for woodwinds, brass, and percussion will be scheduled based on interest.  If you are interested in one of these classes, please contact Marci Dittmer.

Payment Policy

Group classes at The Arts School follow a predetermined schedule. Because of the nature of the group class setting, The Arts School will not be able to reimburse for missed classes, and make-up classes will not be available. In the event that the instructor of the class is not available or the class is canceled due to inclement weather, the class will be made up.
 
The Arts School Year
 
The school year at The Arts School is divided into two main sessions, fall and spring. The Arts School also offers lessons in an abbreviated summer session. The 2025-26 school year begins on August 18, 2025 and runs through May 21, 2026, with the week of May 18 - 21 as a makeup week only . Summer lessons will be offered from May 26 - August 7, 2026.
 
Class Termination
 
Group class enrollment is for the 2025-2026 school year. If a student wishes to discontinue his/her group class prior to May 16, 2026, notice must be given 30 days in advance using the class cancellation form. The student will be financially responsible for the classes that occur within the 30 days from the date that the notice is given, whether or not the student chooses to attend the classes. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
 
Inclement Weather and School Closings

The Arts School follows the inclement weather policy of Prince of Peace Christian School. Please listen to local radio and TV broadcasts for up-to-date information concerning school closings. School closings will be posted on the POPCS school homepage.  If the campus remains open and available on a day when lessons have been cancelled, special arrangements may be made on an individual basis between the student and the instructor to rescheduled. When inclement weather does develop, The Arts School reserves the right to cancel lessons for the day.
