MIDDLE SCHOOL THEATRE OFFERINGS
Prince of Peace Christian School is proud to support an award-winning theatre department.
The Prince of Peace Theatre Company Drama Club is an extracurricular organization headed by the International Thespian student officers under the direction of the Theatre Director. The club is for students, Grades 7-12, who have an interest in theatre whether they want to be directly involved in productions or observe. The club sponsors social events and takes field trips to different theatre events around the city.
INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY (ITS) TROUPE #8188
All of a theatre student's work outside the classroom will make them eligible to become a member of POP Theatre Company’s Thespian Troupe #8188. A student must earn 10 points, 5 of which must come from active involvement in the POP Theater activities, approved by the program director. A student must be a member in good standing of the POP Theatre Company (Drama Club). Upon induction into the Thespian Troupe, members must continue to earn 10 points each year to remain active Members are eligible to attend the State Thespian Convention and compete in various acting and technical areas. Thespians are also eligible to apply for scholarships through ITS.
This course introduces the student to the theater program at the secondary level. The focus will be acting technique while featuring theatre history and the fundamentals of play production. The course ends with a live, in-class student performance. This class has a “Project Points” requirement: students must earn one hundred points beyond the classroom each grading period. This includes but is not limited to: attending drama club meetings, fine arts performances, workshops, participation in the high school musical and reading plays.
PERFORMANCE I - IV
This course focuses on the production process as the means to learn acting technique, technical theatre, and theatre history. The course requires students to participate in the TAPPS One Act Play, Talent Show, High School Musical, TAPPS Speech Competition, and the Junior Directs. *The Prerequisite for this class is one of the following courses: Choir I, Actor’s Studio I, or Technical Theatre.

TECHNICAL THEATRE I - IV
This course introduces the student to the theater program at the secondary level. The focus will be the backstage elements of producing a live theatrical performance, such as, set construction, prop and costume building as well as lighting and sound techniques. Although not mandatory, it is highly suggested that students participate in productions beyond the classroom. This class has a “Project Points” requirement: students must earn one hundred points beyond the classroom each grading period. This includes but is not limited to: attending drama club meetings, fine arts performances, workshops and reading plays.
