Used Uniform Drive Benefits Children in Peru

At the end of the school year, the EVO collected used uniforms from POPCS families.  The gently used uniforms were  organized, packed, and shipped by volunteers for distribution by the non-profit group,The Uniform Project, and by students, staff, and parents on a mission trip with Upper School teacher, Amber Carrion, through Refuge of Hope in Peru.

The uniforms were distributed to children in Peru at a Family Day event, which POPCS students and chaperones helped lead. As part of the fun, parents played a game to win a golden coin, which they could then use to "purchase" clothing items. It was a huge hit! Parents and kids were excited, and the clothes were in excellent condition. One of the most touching moments was seeing so many children immediately put on their new clothes.

POPCS Upper School Teacher and Refuge of Hope Executive Director said, "We are incredibly grateful. This was such a meaningful endeavor!"

  • It gave POPCS families a way to give back
  • Provided a new purpose for old uniforms
  • Allowed our Peru mission team to see the impact of efforts firsthand
  • Gave Peruvian parents the joy of winning something for their children
  • Most of all, brought smiles to happy kids in their new clothes

Thank you to our volunteers for organizing uniforms, to everyone who donated uniforms and luggage to transport them, and to POPCS parents, Adam and Sam Beyer, who donated to the Eagle Fund to help cover shipping costs.
