POPCS Sophomore Named Broadway Dallas HSMTA Semifinalist

Prince of Peace Christian School sophomore Ace Walling has been named a semifinalist for Outstanding Lead Performer in the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards for his portrayal of Gomez Addams in the POPCS Theatre production of The Addams Family.

This outstanding recognition highlights Ace’s talent, dedication, and stage presence, while also reflecting the excellence of the POPCS theatre program. Congratulations to Ace on this remarkable and well-deserved honor!

In addition to Ace’s individual recognition, The Addams Family received an Outstanding Rating from adjudicators. The full list of award nominees will be announced on March 27.

Formerly known as Dallas Summer Musicals, Broadway Dallas is the leading nonprofit presenter of Broadway theatre in North Texas. Through year-round performances, educational opportunities, and community outreach, Broadway Dallas promotes excellence in live musical theatre and enriches the cultural landscape of Dallas-Fort Worth and the surrounding region.

The Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards are designed to inspire and honor excellence in high school musical theatre while recognizing the importance of arts education in the North Texas community. Open to public, private, and charter high schools serving grades 9-12, the program culminates in an awards ceremony at the Music Hall, modeled after the Tony Awards®, to celebrate outstanding productions, students, and educators. The program also awards more than $65,000 in scholarships to support students in pursuing their educational goals and professional dreams. Winners of the Outstanding Lead Performer category also have the opportunity to advance to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (Jimmy Awards) in New York City.
