POPCS Athletic Development
A to Z programs focus on the practical teaching techniques and instructional communication that create a solid developmental foundation. Regardless of your child’s athletic/sport future, they will learn valuable life skills and knowledge that will last a lifetime! Our programs are created for all athletes, boys and girls, age 7 and up. Our goal is to provide physical education based on clinical instruction through hands-on implementation and complete athletic development training in a safe, positive environment.
To accommodate your busy summer schedule, A to Z offers 8 sessions with an additional 5th day. We recommend that athletes participate in as many days as possible for maximum improvement. Classes will be held on the Prince of Peace campus.

Kids on Canvas - Abrakadoodle presents Kids on Canvas, a unique art program that teaches about painting on a variety of canvas surfaces with acrylics. Canvas paper, canvas board, and stretched canvas will be used while exploring the versatile medium of acrylics. Master artists who will be introduced along with vocabulary and technique are Renoir, Mondrian, Laurel Burch, Jackson Pollock, Modigliani, Warhol, Sam Francis, and Frank Stella.

Photography and Mixed Media - Come and explore digital photography and mixed media art. Eaglettes Drill Team Camp

Help! MS Summer Reading Project
Students entering 6th grade can come for a week of Summer Reading Project help. We will plan out how long it should take to read the book, what to look for to complete the project, and work in small groups to accomplish the Summer Reading Project assignment. Students must come with at least one of their Summer Reading Project books in hand. It is preferable that students not have read their book yet or have read less than half before starting camp. Step Into a Story

Story Time Chess
Story Time Chess builds on timeless children’s stories, with Chess themes woven throughout, in order to gently acquaint children with the wonderful world of Chess. The program will teach the basics of Chess including the names of the pieces, how they move, and their value. We will also teach the history of the game with a Chess Coloring Book that will both motivate and stimulate interest in this amazing game.

Technology Applications Part I (1 semester credit) - Full
June 7-18, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon

This course is available to all high school students and will count as a ½ credit for POPCS graduation. Students may choose to take one section of Technology Applications during one summer but must commit to take the second section the following summer. Due to scheduling constraints, we are not able to accommodate taking the alternate section during the school year. Both sections of Tech App must be completed before these additional technology classes may be taken: Communication Design and Photography; Videography; Web Journalism; or YearbookNon-POPCS students are welcome to take the class, however the acceptance of the ½ credit will be determined by the home school/school district of the individual student.
Credit cannot be given if a student misses more than four hours of class.
Students will learn and practice the basic functionalities of Office 2007 and learn to organize, illustrate, and deliver information in a professional manner. Students will learn to collect, track, and report information, as well as create standard documents, and spreadsheets. Multi-media skills will be applied to manipulate text, graphics, and audio/video using a variety of applications. Digital photos will be enhanced by adding music, narration, motion, and more in projects. Students will have opportunities to record and play sounds, import and export audio files, edit and mix tracks, and apply different effects to recordings.
Projects will provide students with the experience of creation, editing, and sharing movies.
Students need to bring spiral notebook, pen/pencil and USB flash drive to class every day.

Students will be trained in the basics of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop software programs. Elements of graphic design, layout and production will be combined with special effects and the effective use of font styles and sizes to enhance the publication. The skills taught in this class will be used in real-life applications, as students will generate publications to include producing posters, invitations, t-shirts, brochures, magazine layouts, and in developing a personal logo design. Students’ original photography will be used in projects designed to be camera-ready and functional for both computer/electronic and print media.

Tennis Time Kids
Come learn new tennis skills or improve what you already know! This tennis camp will:

Wizards Academy
(Magic Camp 2010)
“Future Wizards” will learn the history of magic, as well as make, perform, and understand magic and scientific principles that are all most amazing! This year’s Wizard’s Academy will teach crafts, explore experiments, and teach public speaking. The camp will be taught by performer and professional illusion designer to the world’s greatest magicians, Paul Osborne. At the end of the camp, students will keep a giant “Wizard’s Magic Kit” worth more than $100!
