| K-Prep |
K-Prep is a transitional class designed for students who are chronologically five years of age by September 1st but whose average developmental age is younger than five. Placement in this program is determined using results obtained from the Gesell Developmental Instrument which is administered to all students applying for kindergarten. by the This class provides hands-on activities which help students progress in all areas of development but particularly in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, visual perception, and social skills. Learning centers and hands-on activities are an integral part of each day. Faith and monthly themes are integrated into all curricula which include phonics, handwriting, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, and computer. The maximum class size is sixteen and the teacher is assisted by a teacher’s aide. The students wear uniforms and attend from 8:30 to 3:15 each day. Children enrolled in K-Prep attend kindergarten the following year.
