Prince of Peace held the first Induction ceremony for National Honor Society in 2004. Including this year’s graduating class, 56% of all POP graduates will have earned the distinction of being a member of NHS. Eligibility for membership begins when a student has reached the second semester of their sophomore year. Students who have earned a GPA average of 3.25 or higher are invited to begin the application process. Students must complete the application forms, and pass the evaluation process by the High School staff which considers the individual student’s service, leadership, and character. Those students found meeting the requirements are welcomed into membership with the induction ceremony held each April.

IT’S ABOUT THE BOOK
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16-17.
So what do I really believe about the Bible? Is it just another book—something that is read in church and at religious festivals? Does it really have the power to give and strengthen my faith through the power and presence of God’s Holy Spirit? Is it really an instruction manual for Christian living?
I know that it tells me that without the Spirit I will not accept what the Bible says—it is mere foolishness and filled with a lot of meaningless stuff, my mind is hostile toward God, and I know that I want to make my own decisions, in my way and in my time. As I contemplate, I am challenged with the following:
I know things are impossible but God says, “With Me all things are possible.” Luke 18:27
I’m often exhausted and God says, “Wait on me and I will renew your strength.” Isaiah 40:31
I feel nobody loves me and God says, “I love you with an everlasting Love.” John 31:3
I don’t think I can go on and God says, “My grace is sufficient for you.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
I know I can’t do it and God says, “You can do all things through my strength.” Philippians 4:13
I don’t know what to do at times and God says, “I’ll direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:6
I know it’s not worth it but God says, “Do not give up for at the right time you will reap the harvest.” Galatians 6:9
At times and for certain things I just can’t forgive myself but God says I can, “For I have already forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32
Sometimes I just can’t make ends meet but God says, “I will meet all your needs according to my riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
I’m afraid but God says, “I didn’t give you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Sometimes I just can’t handle things and God says, “Give it to me and I’ll carry it for you.” Psalm 55:22
I often feel all alone and God says, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
Very often I feel very weak and God says, “My strength is made perfect in your weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Too often I don’t know where I’m going and God says, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” John 14:6
I can’t decide which way to turn and God says, “Come, Follow Me.” Matthew 4:19
Does God really care that much about me? Does He correct and rebuke me because He wants to teach and train me to live for Him? He invites me to give all my cares and worries to Him and assures me that His prayer for me is that I may be in Heaven with Him to see and enjoy His glory. Oh, what a Savior!
As He prays for each of us, we too join in prayer for the following students and their families:
May 3---Lauren D., Avery E.and Miles F.
May 4---Luke H., Sutton H.and Ariana K.
May 5---Matthew M., Mackenzie M. and Kaci L.
May 6---Max O., Sarah P.and Grace P.
May 7---Zachary O., Isabella R.and Samuel S.
If you have any questions about Baptism, would like to have your child baptized or have other spiritual concerns, please contact me at extension 236 or e-mail curt.riske@princeofpeace.org. Have a blessed week!!
