POPCS performing arts and technical theatre classes are busy putting the final touches on the classic Broadway musical "Bye Bye Birdie". The show will open next Thursday, April 22, and run through Saturday, April 24. The show will start each night at 7:00 p.m., with a special Saturday matinee at 2:30 p.m. The box office will open 30 minutes before each performance. Tickets are only $5.00 at the door. VIP seating can be reserved for $20.00 by calling Darla Koelewyn at 972.447-9887, ext. 448.
Birdie is the story of the Elvis like teen idol who is drafted into the Army and the devastating effects it has on the morale of the American teenagers. One lucky girl is chosen to appear on "The Ed Sullivan Show" to get one last kiss from the rock star.
You won't want to miss this hilarious musical with a cast and crew of over 50 POPCS superstars. Catch the show twice to see both incredible casts of kids singing and dancing their hearts out. One cast performs Thursday and Saturday nights, while the other cast performs Friday night and during the Saturday matinee. Saturday night will also be Senior Recognition Night.
Support the arts at POPCS ! Make plans now to see "Bye Bye Birdie"!

A Special Note from the Fred Family |
|
| |
POPCS Family,
We wanted to tell you all thank you so much for all of you who came out and participated (and to those who tried to participate)in the Be The Match Donor Drive for Todd. We were just blown away at the response, it speaks so highly of the community and love that our school has for each other. I know that all of you don't know us and that you were willing to come out and potentially be a donor is an amazing gift. Spencer and Sydney were able to be at the drive for some of the time and could not stop talking about the number of people and how special everyone was. From our whole family thanks you more than you can ever know. If we could thank you each individually we would love to but I know we would leave some of you out, and we want you to all know your gift is amazing - I think it would be amazing if someone ends up being a match. We will keep you all posted!! From the bottom of our hearts thank you all so very much. Thanks especially to those dear friends who worked so hard in planning the drive and always being there for our family.
We love you!
Todd, Kim, Spencer and Sydney Fred

The Fred Family
This month, Prince of Peace Student Council will be hosting a blood drive with Carter Blood Care on our campus. On April 27, from 1-7 pm, students, parents and teachers alike are welcome to volunteer to give blood. This event is being held in honor and support of Todd Fred, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Any support through prayer and through blood donation will be greatly appreciated by the Fred family. Anyone age 16 or older can participate, though those under 18 will be required to have a parental consent form. Though walk-in donations are welcome, we do ask that you preregister for a timeslot during the day, so that everything will run as smoothly as possible.
Students will be able to sign up for an appointment during their lunch periods. Appointments can also be made by phone. If you would like to do this please contact Joyce Lonquist in the High School Office 447-9887 (ext. 391). This Blood Drive is an extremely exciting event that we hope to make a tradition at Prince of Peace.

BURNING HEARTS
“Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked to us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32
How did you celebrate Easter? What has it been like for you during the last week or two?
It was on that first Easter afternoon that two friends were walking on their way from Jerusalem to their home in Emmaus. Somewhere and in some way, a third person joined them and entered into their conversation. They were so impressed with this stranger and His insight into their discussion, that they invited Him to join them for the evening meal. It was during this meal and the blessing of the stranger that they came to realize that this indeed was Jesus, their Savior and friend, and that He was alive.
As they reflected on their afternoon experience, they had to admit that there was something special; something unique about their earlier discussion—“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scripture to us?”
How about You? Have you had your heart burn within you fueled by the Holy Spirit? It’s time to listen and reflect and to let God open up His Scriptures to you. It may be during a time of daily prayer. It may be in a personal researching of God’s Word. It may be during a prayer and devotional period with your family. It may be in a group Bible study or in a worship service. In either situation, invite your Lord’s presence, and await His power and authority as He opens the Scriptures for you. You too will have your eyes opened and come to realize that He truly does love you, forgives you and wants you to know and celebrate the New Life He has waiting for you. May our hearts burn within us!
Please join me this week as we lift up the following students and their families in our daily prayers.
April 19---Lindsey B., Kyra M. and Mackenzie C.
April 20---Summer D., Erin D. and Anthony D.
April 21---Wesley F., Kayla Gr.and Austin G.
April 22---Kat H., Davis H. and Alex H.
April 23---Nina K., Anna K.and Daniella M..
If you have any questions about Baptism, would like to have your child baptized or have other spiritual concerns, please contact me at extension 236 or e-mail curt.riske@princeofpeace.org. Have a blessed week!!

Congratulations to the varsity girls golf team on advancing to the State Golf Tournament to be played on April 26-27. Sarah also placed ninth in the top ten medalists that were honored at the regional tournament and did so by winning a playoff hole with a well played par on the playoff hole. Holly B. and Gabby B. rounded out the varsity squad and shot 119 and 120 respectively. Great job, ladies!!!

At the beginning of the school year a list of uncommon attributes was used on a POPCS t-shirt. We will end our school year using those and similar verses to pray for those character qualities. Our prayer for our school and students this week is that our motivation would be to do all that we do for the glory of God.
Colossians 3:23-24 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Please join us on Wednesday mornings at 8:30 in the prayer room at the back of the sanctuary. For additional information, contact Melissa Parrott at melissa.parrott@gmail.com.
